

The beautiful Argentinian city of Cordoba, today (Wednesday 6th July) celebrates its 449th anniversary of its founding. It was founded back in 1573 by Spaniard Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera who named the area, after the Spanish city of Cordoba.
It is the second largest populated city in the whole of Argentina, only beaten by Buenos Aires. It has a population of over 1.3million people.
Cordoba has many famous pieces of architecture such as ‘The National University Of Cordoba’ which is the eldest university in the whole of Argentina. It’s also home to the ‘Jesuit Block’ which was named in 2000 as a world heritage site.
In football terms, it is the birthplace of a very famous footballer in today’s times. This man is former Juventus and Palermo striker Paulo Dybala. As well as Racing De Cordoba, there are three other football teams in the area as football is the city’s most popular sport. These teams are; Belgrano, Instituto De Cordoba and first division side Talleres.
